continuation of the in and outs of PULUTAN. I've discussed
de-latas, de-sarsas and sitsiryas. Here's more!
Inihaw - grill anything if you can, inihaws are ideal pulutans.
In - I don't know 'bout you but for me it's Pusit! plus add
some Tilapia or Bangus, well that's perfect.
Out - You know Liempo, Barbq and the likes tastes great but
please if you serve it as pulutan it might as well be chopped
into bits and pieces if you don't want it gone within minutes.
Pinirito - Its your easy way out, just fry something.
In - Squidballs are not really pulutan material but i love it.
Most of you will disagree with Crispy Pata, but deep inside you're
Out - Itik fails to satisfy me, its like you're begging for meat
with this one. My advice if you really like itik, go get it from
Victoria, Laguna (the Amazing Race route) they got some fat
ass itiks down there.
De Sabaw - We definitely need some soup, especially
In - Lomi is great, tasty yet not heavy. This one depends on
the way it was prepared.
Out - Remember don't make your ulam your pulutan. Nilaga &
sinigang are definitely out. If ya can't help it, bulalo is nice but
without the meat.
Salad & Fruits - yeah I'm sure about this, yes you can!
In - Fruit salad without cream is good enough. but you can't
go wrong with Ensaladang Mangga. I'll bet on it.
Out - Buko salad & Macaroni salad. Don't go there.
Gulay - contrary to popular belief, vegetables are better pulutan
In - A spicy Gising-gising is a sure winner. Adobong
Kangkong or Kangkong with Bagoong is best.
Out - Chopsuey, Pakbet etc., just don't
Atbp. - these are honorable mentions
In - Atay, Tokwa't Baboy, Ice cream, Chocolate, Onion rings,
Chicharon, Balot, Abnoy, Instant noodles, Sisig and Isaw
Here are some pulutan tips that i can share for better drinking sessions.
I hope this will help. but knowing pinoys, i think that its not
- Always make an effort to make it spicy, it's rule no. 1 for me.
- Put veggies, it helps.
- Don't forget onions, garlic etc.
- If you have something exotic then serve it. (I like those fried frogs.)
- Last thing, always remember that it all depends on the number of people drinking.
really necessary. prepare whatever you have and they'll eat
it. prepare nothing and the next thing you'll know you've got
